Reading a Men's Supplement Label: A Checklist, Applied to Vigorus
Check nine things on any men's supplement: serving size, printed amounts vs blends, blend ceilings, % DV and upper limits, label vs sales claims, seals, the distributor line, price per day and the guarantee. On Vigorus, niacin (20 mg) and zinc (11 mg) are printed. Six ingredients share a 570 mg blend with no single amounts.
Why read a men's supplement label before you buy?
The label is the one part of a supplement the seller must print, so it is the most reliable source you have. Sales pages can change overnight, but the Supplement Facts panel on the bottle is fixed.
Supplements do not need FDA approval before they are sold. The maker is responsible for safety and for honest labels (FDA). The nine-step checklist below works on any men's product. We then apply it to Vigorus.
Find the serving size
Every number on the panel is per serving. Check the capsules per serving and servings per bottle.
Split printed amounts from blends
Some ingredients have their own amount. Others share a blend total.
Work out blend ceilings
Blends are listed from most to least by weight. The first item can be the whole total at most, the second half of it, and so on.
Compare % DV with upper limits
A % Daily Value tells you how the amount compares with daily needs. An upper limit is the most you should get from all sources.
Separate label claims from sales claims
Words that appear only on the sales page are marketing, not label facts.
Look past the seals
A seal is a picture on the label. Ask what document backs it up and who issued it.
Read the distributor line
Check who the label names, and whether the contact details match the place you buy from.
Work out the price per day
Divide the pack price by the number of days it lasts at the label dose.
Read the guarantee terms
Check the window, how to claim, who pays return shipping and how long a refund takes.
What is the difference between printed amounts and a blend?
A printed amount tells you exactly how much of one ingredient is in a serving. A proprietary blend only tells you the total weight of a group of ingredients.
Vigorus has both. Niacin (20 mg) and zinc (11 mg) are printed with amounts. The other six share a "Proprietary Blend 570 mg", marked "Daily Value not established".
Blend ingredients are listed from most to least by weight. That lets you work out a ceiling for each one. The first can be the whole blend. The second can be half at most, the third a third, and so on.

How do you read % Daily Value and upper limits?
The % Daily Value compares the amount in a serving with a daily reference amount. An upper limit is different: it is the most you should get each day before side effects become more likely.
Vigorus prints niacin at 20 mg, 125% DV, and zinc at 11 mg, 100% DV. Men need 16 mg of niacin a day, and the upper limit for niacin from supplements is 35 mg (NIH ODS, niacin). Flushing is common at 30 mg or more of nicotinic acid.
Zinc at 11 mg matches the daily need for adult men. The upper limit is 40 mg a day from all sources (NIH ODS, zinc). If you also take a multivitamin, add its niacin and zinc to the Vigorus amounts. The niacin and zinc post walks through the math.
How do label claims differ from sales-page claims?
Label claims are what the bottle says. Sales-page claims are what the website says. Keep them apart.
The Vigorus front label says only "Vigorus", "30 Capsules" and "Dietary Supplement". The sales page says Vigorus supports "libido, circulation, and healthy testosterone within the normal range". Those words are not on the label, and no study has tested the Vigorus formula.
L-citrulline, the ingredient most linked to circulation, leads the blend. Blood pressure studies used about 3 to 10 g a day (Allerton et al., 2018). At 570 mg at most, Vigorus holds no more than about a fifth of the low end.
What do the seals on a supplement label actually mean?
A seal is artwork on the label. It only means something if a named body issued it and you can see the document behind it.
The Vigorus label carries ten seals. Here is how they read:
- "Made in an FDA registered facility" describes the factory. The FDA does not approve supplements before sale.
- "Doctor formulated" names no doctor anywhere on the label or the sales page.
- "Manufactured in USA" sits next to a label that names a distributor, not a manufacturer.
- "Vegetarian" fits the hypromellose (vegetable) capsule listed under other ingredients.
- "Non-GMO", "natural ingredients", "dairy free" and "naturally gluten free" are seals only. No third-party certificate has been shown to us.
The testing and quality page covers the batch details. The lot is VIG-26/MY-4787. A certificate of analysis reference, VIG-4787-26-MY, exists, but the document itself is not published.
Why check the distributor line?
The distributor line tells you who put their name on the bottle and how to reach them. Check it against the place you are buying from.
The Vigorus label reads, word for word: "Distributed by: Vigorus, Aurora, CO 80011, [email protected], +1 (833) 286-7076". Note that the email domain on the label is vigrux.com. No manufacturer is named.

How do you work out the real price per day?
Divide the pack price by the days it lasts at the label dose. For Vigorus, one capsule a day means one bottle lasts 30 days, so price per day and price per capsule are the same.

The label caution reads: "Do not exceed recommended dose. Not for use for those under the age of 18 or pregnant or nursing mothers. Consult with a physician prior to use especially if you are taking a medication or have a medical condition." A group of ingredients listed with one total weight. The label names each ingredient in order of weight but does not give single amounts.
Does an FDA registered facility seal mean FDA approval?
No. It describes the factory. The FDA does not approve dietary supplements before they are sold.
Who makes Vigorus?
The label names a distributor, Vigorus of Aurora, CO. No manufacturer is named.
What does 125% DV for niacin mean?
The 20 mg in one capsule is 125% of the daily reference amount. The supplement upper limit is 35 mg a day.
